Whether we chose to board it or not.
The plane's pilots are the CEOs of the AI companies.
The pilots get richer
the faster the plane goes.
The engineers who built the plane, including Turing Award and Nobel Prize winners, are pleading for the pilots to slow down.
The plane is unsafe at this speed, and they have not yet built in any seatbelts, oxygen masks, or landing gear.
They are warning that going at this pace will lead to a massive disaster.
The politicians who are sitting near the front hear the pleas and warnings from the engineers,
but treat them as background noise.

into the fog, hoping not to crash,
certain to invite a hellish outcome if we fail to change our course.
All that matters is landing the plane.
We are treating our Turing Award and Nobel Prize-winning Godfathers of AI as background noise as we proceed thoughtlessly into the dark at max speed.
